Independent Racing Wheel Announces Affiliation with North-South Shootout

Lexington, NC: Independent Racing Wheel of Oakville, CT became the latest company to join the family of sponsors for the 2nd Annual North-South Shootout. The wheel manufacturer comes on board as an associate sponsor of the Modified division. Independent Racing Wheel will award a complete set of wheels to the champion of the North-South Shootout Modified 100 as well as product certificates to the winners of each of the heat and consolation races.

"The North-South Shootout provides us with an excellent opportunity to further develop our customer base in the Modified racing," said owner Jim Lockton. "We are very excited to be involved with an event that attracts so many great Modified drivers."

Lockton decided to turn his attention from building Porsche road racecars toward the manufacturing side of the business. In June of 2002, after purchasing the former R&R Wheel equipment, Lockton opened Independent Racing Wheel.

In just a few short years Independent Racing Wheel has steadily gained ground in the tight racing wheel industry. By catering to the needs of the New England asphalt racers, they began to make a name for themselves. Today, the IRW product line features wheels for nearly every division from Mini Stocks to the Modified, for dirt or asphalt. Recently, the company was named the "official racing wheel" of the Pro All Star Series.

"My goal is do as much of the regional stuff as I can," Lockton said, "and ultimately become a big player on the East Coast."

Independent named Official Racing Wheel of PASS

Independent Racing Wheel has reached an agreement with the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) to be designated as the official racing wheel of the touring Pro Stock series.

In conjunction with their newest dealer Northern Race Tires, the Oakville Connecticut manufacturer will present three product certificates valued at $85.00, $50.00 and $30.00 respectively in a random drawing of qualified race cars at each of the sixteen 2004 Pro All Stars Series races. These certificates may be redeemed at Northern Race Tires toward the purchase of Independent Racing Wheels. In order to qualify for this program, an Independent Racing Wheel decal must be displayed on both front fenders of the racecar.

In addition to the sixteen- race product certificate program, Independent Wheel will provide a set of four ultra light Pro Stock wheels for the 2004 PASS banquet product drawing. The total value of this program for PASS racers is $3,000.00 in 2004.
